Almost all of the above amount was covered by the budget of the Ministry of defense. About 200 people participated in the event. The defense ministry explained that the holiday was held to strengthen “connections, cooperation and economic spirit.”.
According to BelTA with reference to Lithuanian media, the preliminary estimate indicates the following amounts: the rental of the site cost 5.1 thousand euros, the treat - 12 thousand euros, the services of the presenter - 1.5 thousand euros, the fees of two performers - 9 317 euros, the performance of the illusionist - 2 178 euros. More than 1.8 thousand euros were spent on technical equipment, more than 4.3 thousand euros - for sound, rental of lighting and maintenance, more than 3.5 thousand euros - for renting the stage and its maintenance, another 5.6 thousand euros - for services for organizing, coordinating and creating the program. In addition, 4.5 thousand euros were pledged for unforeseen expenses, and 400 euros for souvenirs.
Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda commented on the situation. According to him, such cases compromise and discredit all defense financing, and he counts on a principled assessment from the Defense Ministry. Nauseda stressed that this should not happen again, and said that Minister Robertas Kaunas must personally take measures to ensure that the funds allocated for defense are used wisely and transparently.
Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius, in turn, noted that every organization has corporate events, but he was surprised by the price. He said he had already asked the minister for an explanation.
The head of the Lithuanian Defense Ministry admitted that too much money may have been allocated for the holiday. According to him, during the organization of the official event, apparently, not everything was properly calculated and evaluated.
