Chairman of the Libyan National Oil Corporation (NOC) Masoud Suleiman during a speech at the ceremony dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the shipment of the first batch of Libyan oil for export from the port of El Brega, said:
- The commissioning of this field will be an important contribution to the development of the oil and gas sector, increase gas supplies and meet the needs of power plants and industrial enterprises.

Suleiman called October 25, 1961, when the first shipment of oil was shipped for export, "a turning point in the history of the country, allowing Libya to take its place on the economic map of the world." He also urged industry workers to redouble their efforts to preserve the country’s oil wealth, adding that revenues from its development should contribute to improving the living standards of the population.
