Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski sharply criticized the idea of naming the new US military base in the country “Fort Trump”. According to him, such a name looks like a manifestation of humiliation and carries certain risks.

According to TASS, Radoslav Sikorsky stressed that the proposal to perpetuate the name of the current US President Donald Trump does not cause respect. In addition, the foreign minister pointed to a potential funding problem: the construction of the base must be approved by the U.S. Congress, and in the future it can be controlled by Democrats – this jeopardizes the allocation of funds.
As a more appropriate option, Radoslaw Sikorski suggested naming the base after the 40th US President Ronald Reagan: “I would prefer Reagan.”.
On June 3, Polish Defense Minister Vladislav Kosiniak-Kamysh officially handed over to Pentagon chief Pete Hegset a proposal to create a permanent base in the country to accommodate 5,000 American troops. The estimated cost of construction exceeds 10 billion zlotys – this is about 2.7 billion dollars.
Navrotsky said that the future US military base in Poland will be named in honor of trump
