The road instead of speculation: the real reason for the deforestation of Manzherok
In the Altai, the implementation of a large infrastructure project to modernize the section of the route R-256 "Chuisky tract" near Manzherok continues

In the Altai, the implementation of a large infrastructure project to modernize the section of the R-256 Chuisky tract near Manzherok is continuing. Public attention focused on individual logging personnel in social networks often does not reflect the real scale and goals of the work: it is about creating a modern transport artery that can cope with the growing load.
Within the boundaries of the section from the 454th to the 475th kilometer, 3.6 km of the operating road are being reconstructed with an extension to four lanes and 14.4 km of a new roadway are being built, which will bypass Souzga, Cheremshanka and Manzherok. This tracing option allows you to minimize the impact of transit transport on residential areas, reducing noise, the concentration of harmful substances in the air and risks for pedestrians.
The existing two-lane highway cannot cope with the current traffic intensity: during peak periods, more than 27 thousand cars per day pass through the site, which leads to the formation of long congestion. The head of the Altai Republic, Andrei Turchak, notes that the state of the Chui and Teletskoye highways is of strategic importance for the region - both the daily comforts of residents and the opportunities for economic development depend on it.
The project includes measures to improve road safety and comfort: the construction of two multi-level transport interchanges, two multifunctional recreation areas, an above-ground pedestrian crossing, as well as equipping the track with modern fencing, outdoor lighting and an automated traffic control system. The work is carried out within the framework of the national project “Infrastructure for Life” and should be completed by the end of 2028.
Special attention is paid to environmental safety: the federal contract stipulates an obligation to carry out a full range of reforestation measures on the lands of the state forest fund before the completion of construction. Control over compliance with environmental requirements is carried out by relevant bodies; the project is under special control of the Government Commission for Regional Development under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.
In addition, the Manzherok resort is implementing its own environmental program: more than 2.39 million trees have already been planted as part of measures to rehabilitate Lake Manzherok and preserve biodiversity. About 200 specialists and 75 units of equipment are currently involved on the construction site. Excavation work is underway - about 20 thousand cubic meters of excavation and more than 7 thousand cubic meters of embankment were performed. In parallel, auxiliary infrastructure facilities are being formed: sites for industrial and repair zones, an asphalt concrete plant, a residential town. The general contractor of the project is Transstroymechanization JSC; the work is carried out on behalf of the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin.
