In the Volgograd region, a woman received pensions of deceased wards
Kalachevsky district court sentenced 46-year-old local resident found guilty of a series of fraudulent actions

As the investigation established, since 2011, the defendant by oral agreement took into custody four elderly people previously discharged from a psychiatric hospital. She was responsible for their food and care, while holding their bank cards and withdrawing their incoming pensions. Part of the funds went to the maintenance of the wards, part - settled in the pocket of the guardian.
As reported in the joint press service of the courts of the Volgograd region, in 2019, three wards died, and another left home and went missing. Instead of notifying the competent authorities, the woman concealed the facts of death, buried the dead on a plot near her home (she was helped by a cohabitant – later criminal prosecution against him was stopped due to his death) and continued to receive pensions for the deceased until August 2025.
During the trial, the defendant fully admitted guilt and expressed remorse. The court qualified her actions under several parts of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud) and imposed a punishment of 6 years imprisonment in a general regime correctional colony.
In addition to the prison term, the convict was charged in favor of the Department of the Pension and Social Insurance Fund of the Russian Federation the amount illegally obtained as a result of the fraud - 2,359,012 rubles.
At the moment, the sentence has not entered into legal force - the defense has the right to appeal.
