The doctor compared the benefits of soup and salad for lunch

Nutritionist Maria Fraga compared the benefits of soup and salad as a lunch. She told the publication Eating Well.

According to her, both dishes help stabilize blood glucose levels. However, the ingredients are key. To avoid sharp jumps in sugar, it is better to choose soups with animal proteins. For example, low-fat chicken or beef. Especially in combination with vegetables that do not contain starch.

Such soups increase the sensitivity of cells to insulin. They also slow down digestion due to soluble and insoluble fiber.

Salad has a similar effect. Fraga recommended choosing it if you want a light and hearty dish. It should be rich in vegetables and fiber. In the salad it is worth adding proteins, quality carbohydrates and healthy fats. Then it saturates and does not raise blood sugar levels.

In this case, a nutritionist does not advise choosing one for lunch. Better to eat both soup and salad. This will allow you to enjoy different tastes and provide the body with a variety of plant foods.
