Chudovsky district court sentenced a woman who shot a man in the head with a gun in the Novgorod region. He gave her 1 year and 10 months of restraint. Also, the convict is obliged to pay the family of the deceased 2 million rubles, the press service of the courts reported.
The Novgorod district court sentenced a local resident. In April of this year, he attacked a police officer who tried to stop him at the scene, the press service of the courts reported.
The incident occurred on April 17, 2026 on the street Destinnaya in Veliky Novgorod. The drunken citizen refused to comply with the demands of police officers and tried to escape from them to the apartment. When law enforcement officers began to stop his actions, the man deliberately hit the traffic police inspector with his elbow in the head.
In court, the accused partially admitted guilt, repented and apologized to the police. However, mitigating circumstances did not help him to remain free: the court took into account that the Novgorod citizen has an unextinguished and outstanding conviction from 2015. Because of this relapse, the punishment was severe.
The court found the man guilty and sentenced him to 1 year and 8 months in prison. This term he will serve in a correctional colony of strict regime. The sentence can still be appealed.
