Belarus and Myanmar confirm a consistent course to deepen bilateral cooperation, Chairman of the Standing Commission of the Council of the Republic on International Affairs and National Security Sergey Aleynik told reporters.

According to the MP, the official visit of the President of the House of Nationalities of the Assembly of the Union Aung Lin Two is historic. “This visit confirms the consistent course to promote and deepen bilateral cooperation, the course that was determined by our leaders during the official visits of the presidents of Belarus and Myanmar,” Sergey Aleynik said, noting that this course is legally enshrined in the roadmap of bilateral cooperation for 2026-2028, which is being successfully implemented.
“We are promoting cooperation at all levels, both governmental and parliamentary. Today’s visit of the chairman of the House of Nationalities is the first in his capacity after the parliamentary elections in Myanmar, he said.
The Chairman of the Standing Commission noted that a wide range of issues on the bilateral agenda were discussed at the meeting in the Council of the Republic. The parties noted a rather high level of political dialogue between countries, leaders of states and governments.
“We agreed to continue the exchange of legislative practices, exchange experience, hold joint events of the relevant committees and commissions of the two parliaments,” Sergey Aleynik said, noting that a corresponding memorandum of cooperation was signed today, which determines specific areas of inter-parliamentary cooperation.
“We paid special attention to the implementation of agreements at the highest level, not only from the point of view of parliamentary monitoring, but also parliamentary assistance in the implementation of these agreements. They are quite complex and relate to various areas of our cooperation, Sergey Aleynik said.
According to him, priorities have been defined: cooperation in the field of agriculture and food security, projects in the field of industrial cooperation and the supply of Belarusian agricultural and automotive equipment, cooperation in the field of pharmaceuticals and medicine.
The figures of trade turnover for the eight months of this year indicate a stable growth dynamics. Mutual trade increased by 74 percent, and I think this is not the limit. We will continue to move in this direction and, as a parliament, will do our best to promote this build-up, he said.
In addition, special attention is paid to interregional cooperation. An agreement was signed between the capitals of Naypyido and Minsk. In Naypyido, by the way, Minskaya Street appeared.
“We talked about expanding the geography of our interregional cooperation and hope that in the foreseeable future in various regions of Myanmar will appear streets Brest, Grodno, Mogilev, Gomel and Vitebsk”, – concluded the parliamentarian.
