Endocrinologist, chief doctor of the Minsk City Clinical Endocrinology Center Elena Yurenya in the talk show “PRO HEALTH” on the YouTube channel “SEE AND LIVE” listed hormones that affect weight, writes sb.by.
Insulin One is the hormone insulin. Its main task is to regulate the level of glucose in the blood. It is the only hormone that lowers your level. Also, insulin is an anabolic hormone: it helps to build not only muscle mass, but also adipose tissue. Moreover, it mobilizes glucose and deposits it in the liver. Also, insulin contributes to the accumulation of glycogen. Hormones that act opposite to insulin are called counterinsular: glucagon, adrenaline and cortisol. They inhibit metabolism and quickly increase blood glucose levels.
Thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3)
Thyroid hormones thyroxine and triiodothyronine are necessary for the normal functioning of the body. These are the so-called "thermal stations" that support metabolism, extract energy in the mitochondria of cells and give us the opportunity to feel full. In order for hormones to be properly synthesized, a sufficient amount of protein must enter the body.
Cortisol Another very important hormone is cortisol. Together with insulin, it blocks the enzyme lipase and forms the same “cortisol” or “insulin” abdomen – visceral fat that accumulates around the internal organs.

Glucagon-like peptide Hormone, which quite seriously affects weight, is a glucagon-like peptide. It is produced in the gastrointestinal tract. On its basis, food behavior is regulated with the help of medications.
Leptin and ghrelin Leptin stabilize our eating behavior. Its task is to inform the body that the person is already full. But in some cases, when adipose tissue is very much, leptin resistance occurs. The body does not “hear” leptin, ghrelin turns on, which signals: “I want to eat”, and the person begins to compulsively overeat, without controlling his eating behavior. Ghrelin is a hormone that signals hunger to the brain. And just that weak willpower in overweight people depends on the ghrelin-leptin swing, when a person can not control their eating behavior due to ghrelin. You can calm these hormones by observing the correct regime of the day and eating at the same time, without “popping up” between the main receptions.
