What guarantees are provided for employees of pre-retirement and retirement age

In Belarus, there are additional labor guarantees for workers of pre-retirement and retirement age. About the extension of the contract, the time for medical examination and assistance with employment told in the Ministry of labor and social protection, the correspondent of the Agency “Minsk-Novosti”.

Contract guarantees

Generally established retirement age in Belarus for women – 58 years, for men – 63 years. If the employee conscientiously performs duties, does not violate discipline and there are no more than two years left before retirement, the employer is obliged to extend the contract or conclude a new one - at least until retirement age is reached.

Time for medical examination

Employees of retirement age, as well as those who are not more than five years old, can additionally be exempted from work for medical examination - this is given two working days once a year with the preservation of average earnings.

Employment of pre-retirees

Citizens of pre-retirement age can find a job at the expense of booking, and the employment service helps to find a job and undergo retraining. To facilitate employment, the pre-retirement age is five years before the generally established age.

Post-retirement work

A pensioner can continue to work without restrictions - under an employment contract or contract, receiving a full pension. Age does not affect salary, length of leave or other employment rights. An employee who has reached retirement age has the right to terminate the contract early, indicating this as a valid reason.

The Ministry of Labor also stressed that dismissal or refusal to hire only because of age is not allowed.
