Kojima predicted the disappearance of pleasure from creativity due to AI
Hideo Kojima believes that the main danger of artificial intelligence for authors is not the acceleration of work, but the possible loss of interest in creativity itself. In an interview with the Japanese Game*Spark, which drew the attention of GamesRadar, the game designer admitted that neural networks will eventually take a central place in creating content and deprive people of the joy of the process.

He compared the spread of AI with the advent of Photoshop and text editors. Over 40 years, development tools have changed markedly and accelerated work. Neural networks continue this line and help to close tasks faster and meet deadlines. Kojima does not reject automation itself and used to call AI a friend to whom you can give routine tasks to save time and money.
At the same time, he separates the use of tools from the pleasure that occurs when a person does something with his own hands. Kojima compared creativity with drawing and noted that the joy brings not the finished picture, and the work itself. Repeatedly asking a computer to generate an image to the desired result is not very interesting for him as an author. As an example, he cited prefabricated models and Lego, where pleasure appears during assembly, and not only when looking at the finished object.
On the horizon of 5-10 years, Kojima does not expect serious problems. He's worried about a longer perspective. If the development and application of AI remain unconstrained, the technology, he suggests, could become key in the creative professions. The developer added that he himself will not find this time and would like to pass the baton to younger generations.
Kojima sees increased efficiency as justified if the goal is only to produce a product. But for him, the value of the job is finding a solution. Trial and error give excitement and make the creation of the game exciting. He would not want a future in which this part of labor would disappear.
