Found a way to predict the risk of stroke a decade before its development
American scientists have found that the heartbeat during sleep may indicate the likelihood of developing dangerous diseases within the next decade

American scientists have found that the heartbeat during sleep may indicate the likelihood of developing dangerous diseases within the next decade. A new method of forecasting using artificial intelligence (AI) was developed by Emory University specialists. The results of the research are presented in the journal Sleep.
To create the algorithm, scientists used recordings of the night electrocardiogram of almost 16,000 volunteers. The effectiveness of the system was further evaluated on data of about 23 thousand patients. It turned out that the neural network enough information from just one electrode located on the chest.
The study showed a link between the revealed algorithm features of the heart rhythm and the risk of serious pathologies. With an increase in the calculated index by one standard deviation, the likelihood of stroke increased by 19-40%, heart failure by 69-133 percent, and atrial fibrillation by 103-172 percent.
The most valuable information AI received in the first minutes of sleep, when the activity of the nervous system changes markedly. Scientists believe that in the future, the technology will allow us to identify patients with an increased likelihood of cardiovascular complications and take preventive measures before the first symptoms appear.
