To convey emotions with the help of lines and forms: a master class on abstract drawing was held in Minsk

A master class on abstract drawing was organized at the Museum of Naive Art on September 8, a correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports.

The abstract creativity of the visitors of the institution was introduced by professional artist Pavel Pepel. For 25 years he has been engaged in this type of fine art, and for the last three years he has started studying art therapy. Over time, P. Pepel developed his own method of teaching abstract drawing.

- Each of our emotions can be expressed in color, line and form. Sometimes it is very difficult for people to convey their condition in words. In this case, I recommend turning to an abstract drawing that will help not only feel the emotion, but also see it on paper. And then the analysis of a certain line, figure and color variations begins. In abstract drawing, special education and special skills are not important. We will not paint any complex elements in the master class. In addition, the creative process will allow you to unload your head and relax, the artist said.

The simplest art material that novice authors like to use is markers. People are not afraid of ruining the drawing, and these tools are available. So it's best to start with them. And then you can go to oil, acrylic, etc.

The power of abstraction is to organize the space of a canvas or sheet. It's a kind of chess game. A person draws lines like moving chess pieces on a board, Pepel said.

During the master class, participants drew several abstract lines, both curves and straight lines, then added thickness to them, supplemented their work with patterns. For the drawing, it was important to use several colors, ideally from three to five, to make it more vivid and whole.

- As a designer, I love everything about creativity, especially drawing. That's why I decided to come to this event. I myself develop the design of interfaces - sites, applications. I am also interested in art on paper. After all, I have been drawing since my childhood and I am always open to new directions for myself, Yana Mikhalkevich, a visitor, shared.

After – the final photo of the work had to be uploaded to a special AI service, which works on the basis of three components: art, psychology and modern technologies. In its development, a licensed psychologist Alexander Shinkevich participated. This digital product analyzed the creativity of the participants and with the help of words tried to convey what was drawn on paper. It is important to understand that the neural network does not make a diagnosis, but only puts forward a hypothesis that can both coincide with reality and differ from it.

- When artificial intelligence was just beginning to develop, everyone was convinced that it could not replace humans in art. But every time neural networks get better and better. They start making music, making paintings that sell for a lot of money. But I think we're not going to feud with AI, we're going to befriend it. I believe that new technologies will remain our assistants, and people will continue to manage all processes, Pepel said.
