At the same time, after each contact with raw shells, it is necessary to thoroughly clean the hands to avoid the spread of bacteria. This was told by kinesiologist Mikhail Gavrikin in an interview with argumenti.ru.
According to the expert, even an externally clean shell can contain bacteria of the genus Salmonella. When touched, they can reach your hands and then spread to food, kitchen surfaces and other items. Therefore, the doctor recommends washing your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds.
“If you wash it off beforehand, the egg deteriorates more quickly, and germs penetrate through the pores more easily. Washed eggs are stored for no more than 12 days, while unwashed canteens - up to 25, Gavrikin explained, speaking about the protective film on the shell.
The specialist advised to clean the eggs immediately before cooking, and the main way to protect against salmonellosis called sufficient heat treatment. According to him, boil eggs should be at least ten minutes after boiling water.
However, the recommendations for washing eggs vary: some sanitary services advise against washing them at home because of the risk of spreading bacteria. Regardless of the method of preparing the shell, it is important to avoid contact of raw eggs with prepared food and thoroughly wash your hands and kitchen utensils.
