Nearly 1,800 residents receive social assistance at home

In Lipetsk, 1,827 people are on home-based social services. Such data at the commission on social issues, health and ecology of the city council was cited by the director of the OBU "Center for Social Protection of the Population of the Lipetsk Region" Kristina Gorbacheva. This was reported in the city parliament.

For nine months, the center provided more than a thousand different services to the wards - from domestic assistance to hygienic care and social and legal support. The package includes both guaranteed and additional services. A separate direction is the “School of Care”: there specialists transfer the necessary skills to relatives of seriously ill people for free. Another popular measure is the rental of technical means of rehabilitation, which since the beginning of 2026 has been used by more than 800 residents of Lipsk.

Since 2023, the project “Social assistants in hospitals” has been operating in the region: specialists help patients through social support. Four hospitals and seven clinics of Lipetsk are connected to the initiative. In parallel, the governor’s project “Lipetsk Longevity” is developing, which covered 45 thousand people throughout the region. The region also implements other social programs.

Deputies were interested in how to get a job in the “School of care” and whether a relative of a seriously ill person has the right to get a job in care. Parliamentarian Svetlana Tyunina noted that in such families, loved ones often leave their former place of work for the sake of helping the patient.

As explained by Kristina Gorbacheva, the federal project “System of long-term care” provides for a quota for employees-relatives of seriously ill, as well as for employees who are not.

“If a person comes to us and says that he wants to help a seriously ill relative, and we have the opportunity, we employ him. But before that, he undergoes training, medical examination and other procedures. He's getting a care assistant. Then the profile structure determines the list of necessary services, the amount of time and frequency. Based on this data, we decide on what rate we accept an employee. If the quota is selected, we offer the help of our specialists, the head of the center explained.
