Record harvest of apples and vegetables: how Belarus is laying stable funds for the winter

All over Belarus collect a “borsch set”. And there's a hierarchy. This warm October is the time for beets, potatoes, carrots and apples. Onions were sent to storage in September, and the last from the fields will cut the most resistant to cold – cabbage.

In farms, they create reserves - they lay stable funds. A matter of strategic importance is the foundation of food security. These vegetables will be supplied to social facilities and store shelves without interruption until next summer. For example, in the Grodno region – a third of the necessary already in the bins.

In Vasiliskiy, the first day went out to clean carrots and are not happy - it turned out this year large, juicy, it is a lot. The wet summer helped. This culture loves this kind of weather. And also women's hands - a brigade of workers carefully pulls root vegetables from the ground, cleanses, folds in rows. Occupied with important business – part of the harvest will go to the strategic reserve – for long-term storage – until next summer.

For a year in the farm planted her field of four hectares. And we are sure that each will receive at least a thousand centners. So it will be enough to lay in stabilization funds, and use part for your needs, and sell the surplus. They know that the golden time will come closer to June, when the “old” in stores will mostly end, and the “new” in the fields has not yet grown.

It's quite such a whimsical, but very responsive to technology culture. This year, and last year, the harvest is very good. We plan to collect 380 tons, but the harvest will definitely be around 500 tons for sure.

The entire crop of vitamin products is immediately sent from the fields to the storage. The focus now is on apples. If a year ago because of frosts, the harvest was modest, then this season is a record, they are brought here from morning to evening in boxes. 2.5 thousand tons understand – will come out exactly.

Stabilization funds are a food safety cushion. These vegetables and fruits will lie on the shelves of stores in winter, they will be transferred to hospitals, schools, kindergartens. In the Grodno region will harvest more than 14 thousand tons. A third of what is needed is already in the bins. And Vasiliski, traditionally, is in the top five households that are responsible for winter reserves every year.

A month ago, each refrigerator with an area of 400 square meters was empty, now – part is already forced to the entrance. Onions and beets were fully collected in September, now they gradually fall asleep, the temperature here is not higher than + 2 ° C.

Whether we put it or not, we are a little worried. This year is a very big harvest. We have a very hot time, because we have already laid 760 tons of onions, of which 500 tons of stabilization funds, 340 tons of beets are laid – 100 tons for stabilization funds and an apple have already laid 500 tons, 340 tons for funds.

And such a rich harvest of vegetables this season turned out in all farms of the region. The harvesting campaign is gaining momentum. Mass cleaning of the same cabbage is still ahead. October will be fine. The entire harvest – and in the country it is about 150 thousand tons of vegetable stocks – will be laid in the stabilization funds. And will wait until November, when the final prices for the sales season for all market participants will be announced.
