Dentists five years sued because of someone else’s letter: won the Professor
To deal with the scandal that occurred five years ago at the dissertation council of the Central Research Institute of Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery, the courts had three instances at once

As it became known to "MK", at the notorious council at the end of 2021, a letter was published, received to the Higher Attestation Commission. The author expressed doubts about the scientific works of two medical scientists, noting that their works are of extremely low quality. The incriminating document was voiced by the director of the Central Research Institute Fedor Losev. And although the letter was signed by an outsider, the head of the institute publicly stated that after comparing the handwritings he came to the conclusion: the author of the letter is an academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a prominent dentist Ramaz Gvetadze. Moreover, the director even organized a handwriting examination, which confirmed his words. This information was extremely negatively perceived by the members of the dissertation council - a total of 18 people attended the meeting. Gvetadze (he, by the way, served as deputy director of the Central Research Institute) categorically denied the claims in his address. Moreover, he considered his reputation tarnished, and went to court. By the way, a repeated study conducted by other experts refuted the initial conclusion: it turned out that the professor did not write an incriminating message to the HAC.
Losev put forward counter-arguments: at the meeting of the council, he only announced the results of the examination, and did not publicly state that Gvetadze wrote a “sweeping” letter. There was no insult in his words.
Themis's scales tilted in different directions a total of five times. And recently, the Second Court of Cassation made a final decision: the offended plaintiff is right in this situation. Even the announced results of the examination contained information discrediting the honor and dignity of Gvetadze. Therefore, the director of the institute will be forced to pay 50 thousand rubles as compensation for moral damage. However, this is much less than the plaintiff’s request (the professor demanded 1 million rubles).
