Scientists have determined the optimal duration of sleep to slow aging

A large-scale study has shown that both deficiency and excess sleep negatively affect a person’s biological age. The researchers analyzed data from more than 500,000 participants and assessed the health of 17 organs across 23 biomarkers.
The results revealed a clear optimal: the most favorable for health is the duration of sleep from 6.5 to 7.8 hours a day. Deviations in both directions - sleep less than six or more than eight hours - are associated with accelerated aging of body systems.
Experts note that regular adherence to this time range is more important than trying to compensate for lack of sleep on weekends. A chaotic regime with “sleeping” is not able to completely neutralize the damage caused to the body on weekdays, and can disrupt circadian rhythms. To maintain youth and health, the stability and moderation of daily rest remains a key factor.
