In Kostroma since the beginning of the year shot down 144 pedestrians
Kostroma State Traffic Inspectorate takes under closer observation the zone at pedestrian crossings

Kostroma State Traffic Inspectorate takes under closer observation the zone at pedestrian crossings.
The reason for this decision was two accidents that occurred in Kostroma almost on the same scenario. In the morning on Kozuyeva street, the driver is 77 years old, and on the street Trade Union driver 68 years, moving in conditions of heavy traffic flow, allowed to hit people. In both episodes, citizens who crossed the roadway on the “zebra” suffered: a young man of 25 years and a woman of 60 years were injured.
Representatives of the traffic police emphasize: approaching an unregulated crossing, the driver must slow down in advance, soberly assess the traffic situation and be prepared for the fact that the pedestrian may appear unexpectedly.
For nine months of this year, 144 collisions on pedestrians were recorded: one person died, another 146 received injuries of varying severity. In the dark there were 31 such accidents, and in 30 cases people did not have retroreflective elements. If the car is moving at a speed of 60 km / h, its braking distance is about 18-20 meters, and adjusted for the reaction time of the driver (from 1 to 1.5 seconds), the full stopping distance is more than 35-40 meters. It is for this reason that the retro-reflective elements on a pedestrian’s clothing greatly increase the likelihood that he will be noticed in advance.
The State Traffic Inspectorate of the Kostroma region expands preventive work: conducts raids at pedestrian crossings, monitors violations directly related to the risk of collisions, and conducts explanatory conversations with road users. Special emphasis is placed on working with drivers and pedestrians, as well as on informing citizens about the importance of wearing reflective elements in the dark.
