The Ministry of housing told where to go in case of water problems and how quickly eliminate accidents
Where to go if water of unusual color comes from the tap? How to check the quality of water, how much time to eliminate accidents and what information will appear in the new registry – on the air ONT.

Since 2025, water from underground sources has been used in Minsk, and before it is served to consumers, it is checked in laboratories. However, malfunctions can occur in different parts of the centralized system. Deputy Head of the Department of Public Utilities and Energy of the Ministry of Housing and Utilities Irina Salivonchik in the Tik-Tolk program explained where to go in case of water problems, how long it takes to eliminate accidents and what new service will appear for consumers.
The water quality is checked prior to delivery
Before entering the city network, the water passes the necessary cleaning methods and laboratory control. Only then is it given to consumers.
This problem can occur after the water is supplied to the centralized system. The cause may be the state of intra-house networks, an accident on the outside area or other circumstances.
“The centralized system itself is a living organism. Emergency situations, of course, we cannot exclude, said Salivonchik.
Accidents are eliminated in 8-12 hours
As an example, the situation on Kozyrevska Street in Minsk was cited on air, where residents noticed dark water from the tap in the morning.
According to Irina Salivonchik, the timing of the accident depends on its nature and scale.
If the water changed color, impurities appeared or water supply interruptions occurred, residents should contact the Unified Service No. 115. Experts will determine where the problem occurred and which organization should eliminate it.
A register of water supply systems will appear
Consumers will be able to get more information about the quality of water and the state of water systems thanks to a new state registry.
The law “On drinking water supply and sanitation” provides for the creation of an information system in which you can find information about water supply systems, their condition and water quality. Law No. 131-Z was adopted on March 12, 2026, and its main provisions come into force on September 18, 2026.
“A citizen, that is, you and I, will be able to enter your address, where you live, and see what quality of drinking water is supplied to him and in what condition the water supply systems are,” said Irina Salivonchik.
The register will reflect water indicators, including organic and chemical.
What deadlines are set for applications
If the problem is registered as an appeal to the service No. 115 and does not require additional technical solutions, it should be eliminated during the working day.
“If additional technical solutions are required, for example, as in Myadel, then the period is extended to a month,” added Irina Salivonchik.
