The book exhibition “Beyond Language Barriers” opened in the National Library of Belarus on September 21. The exposition is timed to the International Day of the Translator, which is annually celebrated on September 30, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports with reference to the press service of the institution.
Translation is not just a mechanical transfer of words, but the art of dialogue between cultures. This is an opportunity to “hear” the world in different languages, preserving the deep meanings, mood and imagery of the original works.

Visitors will be able to get acquainted with the basics of the profession and the art of literary translation. The exposition presents books on the history and theory of translation, practical teaching aids, publications about famous translators, as well as famous works of fiction in the original and in translations into Russian and Belarusian.

The exhibition will run until December 11 inclusive. Entrance is carried out by reading card or pass of the socio-cultural center.
