In the usual products found a remedy against lung cancer

Scientists from the University of Erlangen – Nuremberg studied quercetin. This compound is rich in citrus fruits, onions and buckwheat. Published in the journal Cell Death Discovery.

In experiments, the substance slowed the division of lung cancer cells and reduced their mobility, important for metastases. The higher the concentration, the stronger the effect. At the maximum dose, the cells almost stopped moving. Quercetin also reduced levels of EGFR and PD-L1 proteins associated with tumor growth and immune response evasion. In the lung tissues of mice, the content of interferon alfa-2 increased.

In animals, the intestinal microflora changed: there were more bacteria that produced substances that inhibit the growth of tumor cells. There are signs of a decrease in the number of tumor foci, but this requires additional verification. The authors believe that quercetin may be an aid in the treatment of lung cancer. So far, its effectiveness has been studied only in the laboratory and in animals. Further research is needed to understand whether the substance works in humans as well.

Chinese researchers have linked a high proportion of plant protein in the diet to a 14% reduction in the risk of sarcophenic obesity and a slowdown in biological aging by about 10 to 11 months. The work, published in Frontiers in Nutrition, is based on data from more than 15,000 people, but no strong association was found for animal protein.
