Volgograd residents told how many hours a day a person should sleep
Experts warned about the irreversible consequences of chronic sleep deprivation and called the rules for restoring the regime

Every fifth adult does not get enough sleep, which can lead to serious and sometimes irreversible disorders in the body. Experts in the field of medicine emphasize that the popular strategy of “sleeping off on the weekend” does not work, and chronic sleep deficiency requires immediate lifestyle correction.
As experts remind, the need for sleep depends on age. And, if newborns need 14-17 hours of rest per day, then an adult needs 7-9 hours to maintain health.
However, about 20% of adults regularly experience sleep deprivation. Often its cause is the so-called behavioral syndrome of insufficient sleep or voluntary restriction of rest for 3 months or more. Other common causes are increased work or personal workloads, as well as various diseases.
At the same time, many people mistakenly believe that sleeping before lunch on Saturday and Sunday will restore strength. But that's not really the case. Chronic sleep deprivation leads to structural changes in the brain, causing a persistent decline in cognitive abilities.
In addition, lack of sleep hits the immune system and digestion, and also increases the risk of diabetes, hypertension, heart attacks and exacerbates renal pathologies.
To minimize risks and establish a healthy sleep, experts recommend following 5 key rules.
First of all, you need to get up at the same time, without making exceptions even for weekends. In addition, experts advise not to take a smartphone or tablet to bed and completely exclude watching movies and social networks immediately before falling asleep.
Plus, physical activity is better to transfer to the first half of the day, and the use of caffeine and alcohol in the evening should be completely abandoned.
