Petr Yan will come to the UFC championship fight in shorts with the Russian flag

Russian UFC lightweight champion Petr Yan will fight against Georgian Merab Dvalishvili in shorts with the Russian flag. This was reported by the press service of the promotion.

The fight will take place on October 24 at UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi.

At the same tournament, the title duel in the featherweight will take place between the current holder of the championship belt Australian Alexander Volkanovski and Russian Movsar Evloev.

For Jan and Dvalishvili, this will be the third fight against each other. The Russian first won the UFC title in July 2020, defeating Jose Aldo, but lost it after being disqualified in a fight against Aljamaine Sterling in March 2021 and lost to him in a rematch in April 2022.

Then Jan in March 2023 conceded Dvalishvili unanimous decision of judges. The Georgian fighter, who had owned the belt since September 2024, was defeated by Jan in December 2025 and lost the championship title.
