RSF with Degtyarev canceled 5 contests for ов2.6 billion after criticizing Putin
Earlier, Vladimir Putin demanded that the funds of the Russian Sports Fund go to support sports, not to maintain the “bureaucratic apparatus”

The Russian sports Fund (RSF) canceled five competitions for the distribution of deductions from bookmakers, follows from the data on the RSF website. The total amount of support for these programs was about 2.6 billion rubles.
Such competitions as “Support for Regional Sports”, “Support for Mass Physical Education Events”, “Support for Student Sports”, “Support for School Sports” and “Olympic Hope: Children’s and Youth Sports” have been canceled.
RBC sent a request to the press center of the RSF and the press service of the Ministry of Sport of Russia.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin in the course of communication with the Minister of sports Mikhail Degtyarev said that the money from the RSF should be directed to support sports, and not “on the machine with machines”.
“The whole process must be monitored and regulated. But there should be no overrecording. This money should not go to the bureaucracy with machines, with secretaries and so on. They need to support the sport. I ask you to pay attention to this, Putin said.
The RSF is a state-owned non-profit organization established in 2025 on behalf of Putin to provide additional funding for physical culture and sports in Russia. His property is formed mainly due to targeted deductions from gambling.
Until mid-2025, all bookmakers’ deductions were transferred from the Unified Gambling Regulator (ERAI) directly to federations and leagues in proportion to the volume of bets on a particular sport. Under the new rules, the ERAI transfers deductions only from bets on Russian competitions, the remaining funds (about 85%) go to the RSF under the leadership of Degtyarev and are distributed on a competitive basis. In order to receive financial support, federations need to apply for the competition and receive approval from expert and trustee councils.
