Olympic medalist Ilya Averbukh named the athletes from whom he expects to fight for victory at the Russian Figure Skating Championship in Chelyabinsk. Among men, he singled out Vladislav Dikidzhi, Evgeny Semenenko and Pyotr Gumennik. In the women's tournament, the main favorite is Alexandra Trusova.
The Russian Figure Skating Championship 2027 will be held in December at the Tractor Ice Arena. Ilya Averbukh shared his forecasts before the competition in an interview with RIA Novosti.
According to the choreographer and silver medalist of the 2002 Olympics, the struggle in men’s single skating promises to be tense. One of the main contenders for gold Averbukh considers Vladislav Dikidzhi. The competition, according to the expert, will be Evgeny Semenenko and Petr Gumennik.
Averbukh highlighted the latter, stressing that the skater has not yet said his word. Therefore, the upcoming championship, he believes, is of great interest.
In women's single skating, Averbukh prefers Alexandra Trusova. At the same time, he draws attention to the situation with other strong Russian skaters.
In particular, Alice Dvoeglazova is recovering from injury, and Adelia Petrosyan is experiencing a difficult period of growing up. In addition, the balance of forces, according to Averbukh, is affected by the non-admission of Kamila Valieva to international competitions.
Despite the competition, Trusova is now considered the main contender for victory among women.
