For the opponents, this was the second meeting: the first fight, held in May of this year, also ended with a victory by Dubois technical knockout, but in the 11th round. Dubois defended the title for the first time.
In May, he again became world champion after parting with the belt of the International Boxing Federation (IBF), losing in July last year to Ukrainian Alexander Usyk by knockout in the 5th round. Usyk in November gave up the WBO belt and lost the title of absolute world champion.
