Yekaterinburg Hockey Academy entered the top 50 of Russia according to the KHL

The Spartakovets Hockey Academy from Yekaterinburg was awarded by the Kontinental Hockey League: according to the results of the 2025/2026 season, it entered the top 50 strongest youth hockey schools in the country. This recognition was the result of systematic work of the entire team of the Academy – from coaches to administrative staff, the press service of the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports of the Sverdlovsk region reports.

The KHL ranking is based on comprehensive statistics: the league assesses the contribution of schools through the results of their graduates in the KHL Championship for the last three seasons. Played matches, abandoned pucks and other sports achievements of hockey players who left the youth system are taken into account - each such success directly affects the position of their native school in the ranking.

The high place in the ranking opened up new opportunities for Spartakovets: the Academy became an official member of the KHL for Children program. As part of this initiative, the school will receive targeted financial support. The funds will be used to develop the material and technical base, purchase equipment for pupils and improve the skills of the coaching staff.

A special recognition was given to one of the teachers of the Academy. Coach “Spartakovets” Sergey Pavlovich Demenshin entered the top 100 best children and youth coaches of Russia. The KHL noted his contribution to the training of professional players in the league.

The inclusion of the Spartakovets Academy in the top 50 best hockey schools in Russia is the result of a great systematic work of the entire team. Our main task is to prepare a quality reserve. When our graduates clearly declare themselves in the KHL teams, this is the best award for the school, said Sergey Nemolodyshev, director of the Spartakovets Hockey Academy.

Earlier, MK-Ural wrote that 21 sports schools of the Sverdlovsk region officially received Olympic status. The decision is enshrined in the minutes of the meeting of the commission of the Ministry of Sport of Russia dated 28.09.2026 No. O-732/1. It contains a list of organizations that have fulfilled all the necessary requirements for the use of the word “Olympic” and derived phrases in their name. In total, 534 organizations have been granted this status in Russia.

SportsFlag returned, visas were not given: how the Netherlands deprive Russian gymnasts of the Olympics-2028

On October 9, a truly absurd and tense situation developed in Russian sports. On the one hand, the international federations are lifting discriminatory restrictions one by one. On the other hand, host countries are finding ways to keep our athletes out of competitions using a banal bureaucracy. A good example is the Russian gymnastics team, which right now risks losing its chance at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
