LeBron owes an apology to all of America's warriors and heroes. Trump says James showed disrespect for US anthem
US President Donald Trump has issued an angry criticism of the NBA superstar, 41-year-old Philadelphia 76ers player LeBron James for what he called disrespectful behavior during the performance of the national anthem in the last match of this club against Cleveland

"Listening to our national anthem, LeBron James showed disrespect for our country," Trump wrote in a post on his social media, accompanying his video of James moving his body and mimicking throws while performing the US national anthem. LeBron James owes an apology to all the great American warriors and heroes who died for the American flag and for everything our country stands for
In the video, which was shared by the head of the White House, James stands with the players of the Philadelphia 76ers team, waving his hands during warm-ups and performing movements that simulate throws in basketball. Team representatives have not yet responded to a request for comment.
Trump has repeatedly criticized athletes for their behavior during the performance of the U.S. national anthem before the game, starting in particular with an outcry from NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who knelt in support of racial injustice. The president of America also canceled a visit by NFL Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles team, to the White House in 2018 after the team disagreed with his call for players to stand during the anthem's performance.
In 2020, James became one of the leading figures of the Black Lives Matter movement and often supported progressive ideas, rising to the top of the list of NBA top scorers ever. When LeBron himself was asked after the game about Trump’s statement, he brushed off the media with a brief phrase: “It seems that the White House had a boring news day.”.
Just boring news day in the office, said the 41-year-old basketball player after the game with Cleveland, in which the Sixers basketball players managed to play a 29-point gap and win against the opponent with a score of 114:106. LeBron scored 17 points in his first home game for Philadelphia, and this comeback with -29 also became the largest in James' 24-year career.
