Spanish coach fired from Russian football club
Wings of the Soviets defeated Rubin 2-0 in Kazan. The goals were scored by Vujacic (autogoal) and Rahmanovic. This is the third defeat of Kazan in a row without goals scored. After the match, head coach Frank Artiga was fired. Oleg Kuzmin will take his place. "Ruby" is tenth with 12 points, Samara - seventh with 15. Artiga became the third fired Spaniard in the RPL this season.

The collapse of the Kazan experiment: Rubin was left without a head coach and points.
The match on October 24 against the Samara “Wings of the Soviets” became the point of no return for Kazan “Rubin”. The defeat with the score 0: 2 not only exacerbated the crisis in the team, but also led to the natural resignation of the Spanish head coach Frank Artiga.
The meeting in Kazan was a vivid illustration of the current problems of Kazan citizens. Samaras actually scored two unanswered goals in the second half, effectively deciding the fate of the match in six minutes. In the 71st minute, Rubin defender Igor Vujacic cut the ball into his own goal, and six minutes later Amar Rakhmanovich, who is the top scorer of the Wings of the Soviets in the season with four goals scored, implemented the penalty appointed after the intervention of the VAR system. The only episode when Kazan could distinguish themselves ended in disappointment: Eddie Salcedo's goal in the 28th minute was canceled by the referees because of the out-of-game position.
Current statistics "Rubin" is frankly perplexing. The team lost the third match in a row in the Russian Premier League, and the overall losing streak stretched for six games. Over the past three rounds, Artigi's wards did not score a single goal, missing seven. Before the match with the “Wings of the Soviets” Kazan lost to the Moscow “Dynamo” and defeated “Spartak”. The result is natural: twelve points and only tenth place in the standings, while the Samaras, having won the first victory in four rounds, scored fifteen points and rose to the seventh line.
The end of this nightmare was the resignation of Frank Artigha. The decision to dismiss the Spanish specialist who headed the team in January 2026 was made by the president of the board of the club Marat Safiullin. The press service only officially thanked the coach for his work and dedication, wishing good luck, but behind these duty words lies an obvious failure of the chosen course. During the reign of Artiga, Rubin spent 28 matches, gaining only 9 victories with 11 draws and 8 defeats.
To perform the duties of the head coach from October 25 entrusted to Oleg Kuzmin, who previously was part of the coaching staff. He will have to urgently prepare the team for the next matches with Spartak and Torch.

Artiga's resignation is the third time Spanish coaches have been fired this season in the Russian Premier League. Earlier, Juan Diaz lost his posts in the Moscow “Rodina” and Jonathan Alba in “Rostov”, who was immediately lured to “Rodina”, trying to maintain the appearance of adherence to the Spanish method. The only Spaniard who still manages to hold on to his post without dismissals remains the mentor of the Moscow “Spartacus” Juan Carcedo. The Kazan experiment with legionnaire coaches finally stalled, leaving fans in deep disappointment.
