A large-scale sambo tournament in memory of Alexander Tchannikov was held in the regional capital. More than 350 boys and a girl 2011-2012, 2013-2014 years of birth took part. Athletes came from ten Russian regions.
The Ministry of Sports of the region notes that Alexander Tchannikov devoted many years of his life to sambo. It was he who developed this sport in the Vologda region. Vologzhanin more than once became the champion of the region, represented the region at the all-Russian level. He later became a coach. In the 90s, he headed the regional federation for sambo and judo, in 2007 - the All-Russian federation of sambo FZFO. He was also vice president of the Russian Federation.
