The tournament, which brought together 12 teams, including representatives of the sports schools “Trud”, “Vympel”, Borovsk “Zvezda”, two teams from Belousov and Khvastovich, will last until October 25, when the winners of the championship will be announced.
Each team included four boys and four girls.
As the chief judge of the competition Larisa Gavdel told MK in Kaluga, “this is the first time we hold competitions among mixed teams.”.
Previously, men's and women's teams participated in the tournament. But our athletes began to go to the championship of Europe, and the European format – mixed teams, and we adjust to this.
A doubles match is played, then a boy-girl game, then a male-female couple. The meeting is held up to eight points scored... We are trying to ensure that children learn how to play properly in these mixed teams.”.
Tomorrow, October 24, the competition will begin at 10.00, determine the personal results of athletes, which they will be able to get to the national team of the Kaluga region.
According to Gavdel, the region will represent 20 athletes.
The competition this year CFD will be held in Kaluga, in the Palace of Sports. And from 1 to 7 February Kaluga will host the championship of the Central Federal District in table tennis for participants under the age of 16 years.
