The competition, which was attended by 32 teams from Maloyaroslavets and other Russian cities, was dedicated to the anniversary of the Battle of Maloyaroslavets in 1812.

More than 360 young rugby players fought for the victory. Before the game, the organizers gave the hosts wooden rugby balls.
