Over the past weekend, September 19-20, 12 ships passed through the Strait of Hormuz, Reuters reports, citing calculations by Kpler. Traffic decreased threefold: 35 ships crossed the strait a week earlier.
According to Kpler, on September 19, five ships carrying agricultural products, liquefied petroleum gas and fertilizers left the Persian Gulf, and an empty gas carrier entered the Gulf. On September 20, four vessels left the strait: two tankers with oil products and two empty, and two more small oil tankers entered the bay. Reuters recalled that before the conflict between the United States and Iran, transit in the Strait of Hormuz was almost 125 ships per day.
Before the beginning of hostilities, about 20% of world oil supplies (17-20 million barrels per day) passed through the Strait of Hormuz, after the volumes fell several times. In August, Iran and Oman announced an agreement on the temporary passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz. The countries are still negotiating the administrative regulation of shipping. The U.S. last week claimed that shipments of oil and LNG through the Strait of Hormuz reached a six-month high.
