According to BelTA, citing Latvian media, the country’s heat supply enterprises are massively reviewing tariffs – in some cities, heating can rise by 20%.

According to Valdis Vitolins, a member of the board of the Association of Heat Supply Enterprises, the main reason was the rise in the price of natural gas, wood chips, pellets and firewood.

The Public Services Regulatory Commission (PRC) confirmed that the majority of heat supply companies that filed documents in August and September are offering to raise tariffs.

Growth will be uneven across the country. According to Yanis Negribs, Director of the Department of Energy of KROU, the size of the tariff depends on several factors at once: the cost of fuel, the terms of previously concluded contracts, the state of heating networks, the volume of investments, the number of consumers and the characteristics of each heat supply system.
