Musk: AI could be more dangerous than nuclear weapons

Amid discussions about the need to curb the pace of development of artificial intelligence, American businessman Elon Musk recalled that 12 years ago he expressed fears that AI could pose a greater threat than nuclear weapons. This is reported by RIA Novosti.

On September 12, the head of Anthropic Dario Amodei made a call to slow down the pace of creating more advanced models of artificial intelligence - he justified this by the need to ensure the safety of technologies. Elon Musk supported this position, stating his agreement with the idea of slowing down the development of AI. At the same time, the entrepreneur recalled his words twelve years ago: back in 2014, he noted that artificial intelligence potentially poses a greater threat than nuclear weapons.

Previously, an Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon left the field of AI. He explained his decision with fears that the rivalry of technology corporations is rapidly leading the world to the “point of no return” – according to his forecast, an apocalyptic scenario could be realized by the end of 2027.
