Venus will reach its peak aurora on Sept. 18 – it will be visible as a bright point low above the western horizon, dwarfing the surrounding stars. The best chance to see it is with a clear view of the horizon, but in Belarus at this time of year it will be possible to do this only within 35 minutes after sunset.
Astronomy lovers are waiting for a big event: September 19 will be the International night of observation of the moon. Learn more about science and research, and how the moon has shaped cultures around the world for centuries. You can join the event online at NASA.
In addition, on September 23, the autumn equinox will arrive: the Sun will be directly above the Earth’s equator, and the length of day and night will be equal. So, in the Northern Hemisphere will officially come autumn, while in the Southern - spring.
The full moon, which is called the Harvest Moon, will come on September 26 at 19:49. This phenomenon got its name due to the fact that in the Northern Hemisphere at this time the moon rises several evenings in a row shortly after sunset. Thanks to this, farmers of the past could stay longer in the field and complete the harvest faster.
