According to the investigation, in the spring of this year, an 18-year-old foreigner received an offer to work on the Internet. This required coming to Minsk and transporting packages of money and bank cards from one stash to another. A good reward was promised for the work done. The young man agreed and came to the Belarusian capital. For three days, following the instructions of the curators, he moved money to various addresses.

When performing the next task in Drozdy Park, the defendant had to find the package at the specified coordinates and hide it 20 meters from the previous location. After fulfilling the instructions, he was detained by police officers. It turned out that some of the actions he committed together with another 18-year-old foreigner, who was also detained.

According to investigators, the stolen property belonged to five victims who became victims of telephone scams. The fraudsters were represented by officials of the “Minskvodokanal”, mobile operators, the Ministry of Finance, the DFR of the State Control Committee. Callers voiced legends that the attackers took possession of the personal data of Minsk residents for the purpose of obtaining a loan and subsequent financing of terrorism. The victims were required to transfer savings for declaration to the courier with subsequent return.

Believing in history, citizens gave savings, unaware that they were victims of deception. The total amount of damage caused to them amounted to more than 190 thousand rubles.

Foreigners are charged under Part 4 of Art. 209 (fraud committed repeatedly, organized by a group on an especially large scale) of the Criminal Code.

In addition, an additional episode of criminal activity of one of the defendants was established, who needed to link a virtual bank card to a phone and cash the victim’s funds, but this was not possible due to the rejection of the operation by the bank. He was additionally charged under Part 1 of Art. 14, Part 4 of Art. 212 (attempted theft of property by modifying computer information committed by an organized group on a large scale) of the Criminal Code.

With the sanction of the prosecutor, a preventive measure of detention was applied to the detainees.
