The Ministry of Energy responded to reports about the rise in gasoline prices due to imports

The volume of imported gasoline on the Russian market remains insignificant and cannot significantly affect its average price. This was reported by RBC in the Ministry of Energy.
“The volume of imported gasoline in the domestic market of the Russian Federation remains insignificant and the demand for it is declining. This volume allows you to balance the demand and supply of fuel in Russia, and can not have a significant impact on its average price, – said the Ministry.
The Ministry also recalled the current mechanism of import damper. It “compensates for consumers the difference between high world fuel prices and the price in the domestic market,” the Ministry of Energy explained.
According to the Ministry, the supply of fuel is increasing due to the return of the refinery to work after repairs. Consumption is also decreasing seasonally.
“Currently, there is a saturation of the fuel market, thanks to the commissioning of oil refineries coming out of repairs, and a seasonal decrease in fuel consumption, which leads to a decrease in its price,” the ministry said.
According to Rosstat, from October 13 to 19, gasoline fell by about 0.7%, or 64 kopecks, diesel fuel by 9 kopecks. The Ministry of Energy assured that it will continue to monitor the provision of the domestic market and take measures to saturate it with gasoline and diesel.
Earlier, “Kommersant” with reference to the appeal to the Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and the interlocutors reported on the discussion of an additional increase in retail prices for gasoline and diesel fuel by 2.1 rubles per liter. According to the newspaper, this measure should compensate the costs of oil companies on imports, which do not cover the damper.
