Dairy products and honey will rise in price since October: experts called the reasons

According to experts, the rise in price, although to varying degrees, will sweep through literally all products included in our consumer basket. What is the best way to survive this winter? One of these products is honey, which lowers the temperature and generally strengthens the immune system.

Earlier this year, the head of the Union of beekeepers Valery Mikheev warned Russians that honey may rise in price by 30 percent. And indeed, the year for beekeepers was not very successful. In July, in many regions of Russia there was a mass pestilence of bees due to the treatment of fields with toxic chemicals. Let us recall how many bee colonies died in the Krasnoyarsk and Stavropol territories, in the Chelyabinsk region. As a result, according to Rosstat, in January-May 2026, honey rose by 12.5%, the average price was 694 rubles per kilogram.

- Closer to autumn, honey still added in price, - says beekeeper from the Moscow region Dmitry Kolistratov. For the cheapest varieties, for example, sunflower, the cost is still acceptable, in different regions it is from 120 to 200 rubles per kilogram. And elite varieties - lime, acacia, chestnut - are much more expensive. Fake from 700 rubles and above. Lime blooms not every year, besides, the beekeeper does not always manage to collect nectar if it rains.

What factors influence prices?

Fuel has risen in price, maintenance of mobile apiaries, which are exhibited on the edge of agricultural fields, has become more expensive. Then, bees are fed any syrup, and sugar this year is the most expensive product. Honey cannot be cheaper than sugar.

- What stock should be made for the winter?

If a person does not eat sugar, then he is recommended to eat two tablespoons of honey a day before going to bed - to maintain immunity. This is 40 grams, a month 1.2 kilograms. For a family of three people, two 3-liter cans for the winter are enough.

According to experts, the increase in price will affect milk products. Since the beginning of this year, they have even shown some decline. According to Rosstat, on average, prices decreased in almost all positions by 1.5-3.5%. However, market analysts predict that milk, including hard cheeses, will rise in price by 10-12% by the end of this year.

In 2025, Russian livestock farmers fed a record amount of milk – 34.3 million tons, for the first time in 30 years. At the end of December last year, the total stocks of milk in the warehouses of farmers amounted to 73.5 thousand tons, 9% more than in 2024. Overproduction has led to wholesale raw milk being cheaper than water in some regions. As a result, small farms were forced to close. Now farmers are making up for their losses, raising prices.

According to farmers, in the production of livestock huge costs. If for other food products, the state can “twist” prices downward, then nothing will happen with milk, butter and cheeses. They have too high a cost. In addition, manufacturers are waiting for what will happen to the market in 2-3 months. And insure themselves in advance against possible losses and losses.

Dmitry Valigursky, professor of economics at the Russian University of Cooperation, says that with the transition of the dairy herd from the pasture period to the stall content, the productivity of cows decreases.

- Today, livestock breeders try to keep feed units all year round, - he explains, - nevertheless, the change of seasons always affects the Burenkas. But most importantly, the increase in utilities tariffs from October 1. Due to the increase in the cost of light, gas and water, the cost of milk on farms can increase by 6-8%. Much will depend on the prices at which the processors will accept milk from the manufacturer.

However, the increase in prices for agricultural products may continue in the future, the scientist believes. Many regions from the beginning of next year increase taxes on real estate and land cadastral valuation. For example, it is expected that the suburban agricultural land on this indicator will become more expensive by 54%. With more expensive land, for which peasants pay land tax, it becomes increasingly difficult to make a profit.

The expert hopes that from next year, when the government begins to monitor 24 products from the consumer basket, the authorities will be able to find such an algorithm so that socially vulnerable segments of the population have access to products and farmers have the opportunity to increase production.
