Not the casino, but the track: why the construction of Manzherok became the reason for the scandal

Modernization of the section of the federal highway R-256 "Chuisky tract" near Manzherok remains one of the key infrastructure tasks of the Altai Republic. Increased attention to deforestation, the personnel of which are distributed in social networks, should not overshadow the main goal of the project - the solution of an acute transport problem caused by the many times increased load on the road.

On the segment from the 454th to the 475th kilometer, the reconstruction of the 3.6 km of the existing highway is underway with the expansion of the carriageway to four lanes, in parallel, 14.4 km of a new road is being built, which will bypass Souzga, Cheremshanka and Manzherok. Such tracing is designed to exclude the passage of transit transport through residential areas, which will significantly improve the quality of life of local residents by reducing noise, air pollution and risks for pedestrians.

According to experts, during peak periods, the intensity of traffic on the site exceeds 27 thousand vehicles per day. The existing two-lane configuration of the road does not meet modern requirements, causing regular congestion and increasing travel time. As the head of the Altai Republic Andrei Turchak notes, the state of the Chui and Teletskoye highways directly affects the comfort of the population and the potential for economic growth of the region.

The project includes the construction of two multi-level transport interchanges (in Souzga and at the turn to the Lake), two multifunctional recreation areas, an above-ground pedestrian crossing in the Manzherok area, as well as the installation of modern road fences, outdoor lighting and the introduction of an automated traffic control system. The implementation is carried out within the framework of the national project “Infrastructure for Life” with planned completion by the end of 2028.

The environmental component of the project has been worked out in detail: the federal contract stipulates mandatory reforestation on the lands of the state forest fund, which must be completed before the completion of construction work. Compliance with the requirements is monitored by specialized supervisory bodies; coordination is carried out at the level of the Government Commission for Regional Development under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin. In addition, Manzherok resort implements a multi-year program to restore forests and preserve biodiversity - to date, more than 2.39 million trees have been planted.

About 200 specialists and 75 units of construction equipment are involved at the facility. Work is underway on the formation of the earthen canvas: the volume of the excavation amounted to about 20 thousand cubic meters, the embankment - more than 7 thousand cubic meters. In parallel, an auxiliary infrastructure is being created: sites for industrial and repair bases, an asphalt concrete plant, a residential town for personnel. The executor of the works is Transstroymechanization JSC on behalf of the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin.
