The arbitration court of the Yaroslavl region decided to recover from the “Mail of Russia” more than 12.9 million rubles in favor of the company “Union Apart”, which owns the building of the post office on Epiphany Square

The arbitration court of the Yaroslavl region decided to recover from the “Mail of Russia” more than 12.9 million rubles in favor of the company “Union Apart”, which owns the building of the post office on Epiphany Square. The historical structure is known as the Pastukhov apartment house and belongs to the objects of cultural heritage.
The dispute arose due to the use of premises after the termination of the previous lease relationship. In 2013, the previous owner of the building signed a lease agreement with the postal organization. In 2022, the facility became the property of the St. Petersburg company Union Apart, and Rostelecom rented premises from the new owner. At the end of 2024, the contract between the owner and Rostelecom ceased to operate. At the same time, Russian Post, which previously occupied premises under a sublease agreement with a telecommunications company, continued to work there.
According to the plaintiff, the postal organization used the property without paying a fee. Therefore, Union Apart demanded to recover for the period from February 1, 2024 to October 31, 2025 20.7 million rubles of unjust enrichment, as well as 3.6 million rubles of interest for the use of other people’s funds with further accrual before fulfilling obligations.
During the proceedings, the court appointed an examination to determine the market value of the premises. According to her conclusion, the amount for the disputed period amounted to 11 million 22 thousand rubles. Representatives of the “Mail of Russia” insisted on the calculation taking into account the expert opinion, and the plaintiff asked for a second examination. The court found the initial study appropriate and found no reason to repeat it.
As a result, from the “Mail of Russia” recovered 11,022 million rubles for the use of premises and another 1.93 million rubles of interest for the specified period. Interest will continue until actual performance.
