Turchin: Belarus is proud that the SCO member states are our key trading partners
The Republic of Belarus is proud that the SCO member states are our key trading partners, Belarusian Prime Minister Alexander Lukashenko said.

The Republic of Belarus is proud that the SCO member states are our key trading partners, Prime Minister of Belarus Alexander Turchin said at a collective meeting of the heads of delegations of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states with President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. This is reported in the telegram channel “Government of Belarus”, writes sb.by.

Alexander Turchin noted that at the end of last year they accounted for more than 76% of foreign trade in goods of our country.
“These results reinforce our strong belief in the need to focus on projects that can ensure long-term growth in mutual trade and investment. Of particular importance is the formation of sustainable production chains, including cooperation in industry, including in mechanical engineering, agriculture, the digital economy and other promising sectors, he said.
Belarus views each meeting in the SCO format as an immediate opportunity to move from general declarations to concrete agreements, the Prime Minister stressed: Our countries have complementary production and technological competencies. And we can fully engage them together.”.
According to Oleksandr Turchin, the basis of trade expansion can be considered transport connectivity: Belarus is located at the intersection of the most important transport directions of Eurasia and is interested in further development of routes connecting the SCO states. We see significant potential in industrial cooperation. We propose to use the resources of the SCO countries to create cooperation projects and produce the most popular types of products, including automotive, agricultural engineering, high-tech products. The Regulations on the Data Bank of Investment Projects in the Industry of the SCO Member States adopted today should play an important role in this regard.
Belarus has extensive experience in animal husbandry, crop production, food production and processing. Our country is ready to share experience and strengthen multilateral cooperation to achieve sustainable development and food security.
The modern economy is increasingly determined not so much by the availability of resources as by the ability to create and implement technologies. Almost all industries are undergoing digital transformation. Therefore, interaction in the field of IT should be considered primarily as an infrastructure for the development of the entire economic dimension of the SCO.”.
We support initiatives to form a common scientific and innovative space of the Organization and consider it important to ensure its connection with the real sector of the economy, the Prime Minister of Belarus emphasized: “Science will be more quickly embodied in technologies, and technologies in new industries.”.
