Barnaul and Novosibirsk can connect a private high-speed railway
Barnaul and Novosibirsk can be connected by high-speed railway, which will allow you to travel from one city to another in less than 30 minutes

A network of private high-speed passenger railways could link the two cities. This was told by the author of the project “Superhighway Regions of Russia” Rinat Bichurin. According to him, the new line will become part of the transport network that will unite the regions of Western Siberia.
“The network should become an analogue of the ground subway and connect the regions with each other. For Western Siberia, the Novosibirsk-Barnaul link can become a key direction: today the road between them takes hours, and with a high-speed line it will be less than half an hour at low tariffs, Bichurin said.
According to the author of the project, the Novosibirsk region and the Altai Territory are among the most promising regions of Western Siberia for the construction of such highways. In the same list, he included the Kemerovo, Tomsk and Omsk regions.
Bichurin believes that a fast and affordable rail connection will allow residents of neighboring regions to enjoy greater employment opportunities. People will be able to get to jobs faster in Barnaul and Novosibirsk, and the development of the transport network, according to the initiator, will help gradually bring the standard of living in the regions closer to the capital.
Bichurin proposes to build the highway without budget participation - at the expense of private investments through a public joint-stock company. The cost of one kilometer of high-speed railway in Russia, he estimates at 50-300 million rubles.
As an example, the initiator cites the private “Pacific Railway”, the construction of which, according to him, managed to pass more than 500 km in 2.5 years. Bichurin notes that regional and federal budgets do not have funds to create large-scale networks of high-speed highways, so he proposes to attract private capital. He compares this approach to financing the construction of railways in tsarist Russia.
It is worth noting that there is no official decision of the authorities to build a high-speed line between Barnaul and Novosibirsk. The project remains a public initiative.
