Penza told what sleeping poses are harmful to health
Morning stiffness and back pain are often the result of an incorrectly chosen sleeping position

Morning stiffness and back pain are often the result of an incorrectly chosen sleeping position. Neurologist Alexei Mamatov in an interview with Gazeta.Ru explained which body positions cause the greatest harm to the musculoskeletal system.
According to experts, there is no universally correct posture. It all depends on the individual characteristics: the state of the spine, muscle tone and even the quality of bedding. What is comfortable for one person can be torture for another.
One of the most dangerous habits is sleeping on your stomach. In order not to suffocate, a person is forced to constantly keep his head turned sideways. This creates tremendous tension in the cervical region, which leads to pain and stiffness in the morning. Also harmful is sleep in a “twisted” state, when the pelvis and shoulders are deployed in different directions. Muscles throughout the night are under stress, causing discomfort in the lower back.
Pillows and mattresses play an important role. Too high or low headboard violates the natural position of the neck, provoking pain. The inappropriate stiffness of the mattress also prevents the body from relaxing, causing the muscles to work even in sleep.
The main indicator is your health after waking up. If you often get up with numbness or pain, you should think about changing bedding and pay attention to the health of the spine.
