Rescuers leave during the call: how Minsk dispatchers save valuable seconds

The algorithm of the operation of the operational control center when receiving emergency messages was shared on the air of the program “Salvation Service.112” on “Radio-Minsk” by the official representative of the Minsk City Emergencies Department Olga Melchenko.
Action begins before the applicant has finished the conversation. The dispatchers in the center work in a single information space, and when one employee accepts a call and loudly repeats the address, his colleagues nearby already form and send units, as well as, if necessary, attract an ambulance, "Mingaz" or traffic police.
- A high-quality call contains a clear address, an indication of the storeys of the building, the entrance and the nature of the threat, said Olga Melchenko. The faster the applicant transmits key information, the sooner rescuers will receive accurate introductory information along the way.
Every day, the rescue service of the capital processes about 1.5 thousand calls, and during the period of rampant elements and bad weather, their number can increase to 3-4 thousand. Standards for the work of rescue units are as follows: it takes about a minute to wear military clothing and leave the unit. And the average time of arrival of EMERCOM units to the call place in Minsk is five minutes.
