Volgograd explained how cleanliness in the bedroom affects the quality of sleep
Specialists of Rospotrebnadzor in the Volgograd region recalled the importance of bedroom hygiene.

On September 20, by decision of the United Nations, World Cleanup Day is celebrated. The holiday is aimed at uniting the efforts of society, the media, government and business structures to clean the territories from garbage and maintain sustainable cleanliness. Special attention is paid to natural zones - forests, glades, shores of water bodies. However, it is equally important to keep order in your home, including in the bedroom, where you spend about a third of the day.
Ventilation and microclimate
Ventilation of the room for sleep is recommended 2-3 times a day for 10-15 minutes, necessarily before bedtime and after waking up. This reduces the concentration of carbon dioxide, removes odors and reduces the amount of dust.
In the cold season, 3-7 minutes of intense ventilation is enough, while it is important not to be in the draft. The window should not be left ajar on a narrow slit for a long time - the air almost does not circulate, and the walls are very cool. In the heat, it is better to plan airing for the morning (6.00-8.00) and evening (21.00-23.00), when it is cooler and less dust outside.
The optimal temperature for sleep is 18-22 ° C, for infants - 20-22 ° C. The humidity of the air should be within 40-60%. Too dry air dries mucous membranes, and excessive humidity contributes to the growth of mold.
Bed linen and cleaning
Bed linen is recommended to change at least once a week, with increased sweating or allergies - more often. Washing at a temperature not lower than 60 ° C can destroy dust mites and bacteria. If the fabric does not allow such a temperature, the addition of a disinfectant is allowed. The mattress needs regular cleaning with a vacuum cleaner with a nozzle for upholstered furniture, and a removable mattress simplifies care. Blankets and pillows should be washed or dry-cleaned at least twice a year, and change - once every 3-5 years.
Wet cleaning is recommended 1-2 times a week: dust wiping, floor washing with attention to the corners and space under the furniture. Once a month, general cleaning is desirable: bed backs, cabinet facades, cornices, ventilation grilles. Carpets, textiles and upholstered furniture also need a vacuum cleaner, especially curtains, blankets and the headboard of the bed.
Organization of space and additional measures
The number of things accumulating dust, it is better to minimize: extra pillows, soft toys, stacks of magazines. Their storage in closed cabinets is preferable. Houseplants in the bedroom should keep a minimum - some at night absorb oxygen, and the soil becomes a medium for mold. Dirty clothes and sports equipment should not be stored in the bedroom – they are a source of odors and bacteria. Strong flavors are undesirable: pungent odors interfere with falling asleep and irritate the respiratory tract. In the cold season, an additional measure is to wipe the door handles and switches with disinfectant wipes.
Compliance with these recommendations helps maintain cleanliness, promote health and improve sleep quality.
