Volgograd residents learned about the benefits of replacing part of red meat with beans
Doctors have identified the most useful and at the same time quite affordable product for the heart, part of the Mediterranean diet.

Lenta.ru, citing Eating Well, reports that nutritionists Alyssa Pacheco and Drew Rosales have identified a key health and inexpensive component of this popular diet.
This product, according to doctors, is beans. Pacheco noted that one cup of boiled beans contains 15 grams of protein, 13 grams of fiber, 225 calories, and the total amount of fat in it is less than a gram. According to her, if you replace some red meat or completely abandon it in favor of beans, you can perfectly provide the body with protein and at the same time reduce the intake of saturated fats. This principle is considered fundamental for the Mediterranean diet, where plant protein dominates the animal.
Pacheco also cited research suggesting that replacing red meat with legumes may boost heart health. Rosales described the Mediterranean diet as one of the most studied. According to her comment, a number of scientific papers confirmed that the use of beans reduces the likelihood of cancer, diabetes of the second type, as well as cognitive disorders.
For those who want to follow the Mediterranean diet, increasing the proportion of beans will be a great start. In addition, Rosales recommended that the menu include at least three servings of beans weekly.
