“There will be enough caviar by the New Year. Many of our companies, including the state company DRUK JSC (Far Eastern Fishery Management Company), supply affordable volumes of fish and caviar to the domestic market. Therefore, the caviar will absolutely suffice, Shestakov said.
According to him, the reduction in salmon catch this year was due to climate change and a significant increase in water temperature.
In September, Izvestia, citing data from the Center for the Development of Advanced Technologies, reported that the volume of red caviar that entered trade in Russia had almost tripled. From May 20 to September 7, 2.6 thousand tons of products entered circulation against 7.66 thousand tons for the same period of 2025. In the MDG, the decline was associated with a decrease in salmon catch.
