How nutrition affects osteochondrosis: which foods to include in the diet and which to exclude
Osteochondrosis is not just back pain, which many treat lightly, but a gradual process of aging of the spine that affects the body.

Osteochondrosis is not just back pain, which many treat lightly, but a gradual process of aging of the spine, affecting the discs, joints, ligaments and nerve endings. It is impossible to completely stop aging, but it is quite possible to slow down degenerative processes and reduce discomfort - including through nutrition. Russian neurologist Sergey Dlin told which foods to include in the diet, and which to exclude, writes sb.by.

What products will help
Sergey Dlin identified three key groups of products that support spinal health:
Foods rich in fiber (carrots, beets, green salads). They work as a natural detox: they help remove accumulated toxins that slow down cell renewal and provoke degenerative changes in cartilage tissue. It is enough to include such products in the diet 1-2 times a day. Sources of protein (lean meat, fish). Protein is involved in cell regeneration, strengthens their structure and supports metabolism at the cellular level – that is, helps tissues recover and resist destruction. Products with collagen and gelatin (well, jelly, jelly). Collagen is the basis of the strength of bones, ligaments, tendons and cartilage. Regular use of such products (at least once a week) helps to provide tissues with the necessary substances and maintain their elasticity.
Better to rule out
According to Sergey Dlin, it is equally important to limit products that accelerate joint destruction and impair tissue nutrition:
Fried and smoked dishes. In the process of frying and smoking, toxins are formed that harm small capillaries - namely, through them, nutrients enter the spine and joints. Fast food. This is an empty food: it has almost no vitamins and trace elements necessary for the biochemical processes of cell renewal. Regular consumption of fast food leads to a shortage of nutrients and accelerates the development of degenerative processes. Carbonated drinks. They disrupt the intestinal microflora and can provoke chronic inflammation in the digestive tract. Such inflammation triggers a cascade of reactions, including muscle spasms and deterioration of blood flow, as a result, joint nutrition is disrupted, and the risk of osteochondrosis increases.
